Scope
This project assessed the barriers and opportunities to increase participation by women and girls in sport, recreation and physical activity in Moreland. The study also focussed on the needs of disadvantaged communities (youth, indigenous, people with a disability) and the various cultural, linguistic and physical barriers to accessing sporting and physical activity opportunities.
What we did
- Reviewed relevant Moreland City Council strategic plans and policies
- Prepared a literature review and participation research
- Analysed national, state and municipality wide activity participation data and trends
- Analysed local demographic data
- Undertook telephone interviews with schools, clubs, sporting associations and cultural groups
- Interviewed and held workshops with staff
- Distributed householder surveys to 2,000 households in Moreland.
