Scope
Council required a comprehensive audit and mapping of existing and identified potential regional trails within the Moira Shire and those that intersect with other shire boundaries. These trails were then classified and potential trails prioritised thus incorporating their tourism economic and social values. The implications of trails passing through private land and indicative costs to develop trails were provided as part of the study.
What we did
- Extensive telephone consultation with key stakeholders and workshops with staff was undertaken
- Trail inspections of all major established sites were performed to enable site evaluation and determine priorities
- Mapping and classifications of trails to determine tourist, economic and social values of trails were completed
- Evaluated private land implications
- Calculated indicative probable costs
- Determined priorities for development and a provided a series of recommendations
