Scope
The Whittlesea Council appointed @leisure to assist with the preparation of a Cycling and Skate Sports Strategy. The Council will use the strategy to guide the planning and delivery of cycling and skate sport facilities, programs, services and club/sport development.
What we did
- Assessed the demand for cycle sport facilities for the estimated future population
- Conduct a detailed literature review of all relevant strategic, planning and policy documentation
- Carried out detailed consultation with Council staff, key stakeholders, clubs, user groups, retail outlets and the general community
- Reviewed and assessed existing infrastructure, networks and trails to determine optimal use and opportunities for future use of facilities
- Reviewed industry trends and benchmarks
- Identified and recommended recreation facilities for the City’s estimated population growth
- Mapped distribution and indicated potential gaps in supply
- Provided a 10 year costed action plan
